Introduction
How can we stretch the concept of space within the two dimensional world?
Rebel Architects is a Dutch architecture studio that applies their rebellious curiosity to stretch the physical boundaries of nature. They needed a brand identity to match this unconventional approach to architecture, while at the same time being a clear expression of their promise to trigger positive change through creative solutions.
We rose to the challenge of pursuing the experience of unlimited spatiality. Starting with the logo; where we used an optical illusion that is open to the viewer’s interpretation. This encourages the audience to look beyond the two dimensional planes.
The colour palette we chose combines harmonious green tones to reflect Scandinavian esthetics and sustainability, with a bright dark orange as a rebellious eye-catcher. To further elaborate on their original and innovative character, we created a grid system in which rules were made to be broken. This lets the viewer experience their visuals as if they are moving through them, and leaves the impression that there’s more to see beyond the canvas.
To showcase their work as well as their unique outlook on architecture, the Rebel Architects website needs to be a personification of their unconventional designs. We emulate this with a parallax scroll that adds the illusion of content floating through space as tangible objects.
